Léger: Liberals Surge to Majority Territory

Conservatives hold their ground, but a rebound in government satisfaction and an NDP slide propel the Liberals to a wide lead.

The always much-awaited federal poll from Léger dropped this morning in the pages of the National Post. Given the trends detected by other pollsters since last week, and with Pierre Poilievre’s much-anticipated leadership review set for this weekend in Calgary, Léger’s new numbers could hardly come at a more consequential moment.

From coast to coast, Léger finds Mark Carney’s Liberals at 47% support among decided voters, up four points since Léger’s previous poll back in December. And this newfound support for the Liberals does not come at the expense of the Conservatives, who sit at 38%, themselves up two points.

The poll’s regional breakdown clearly shows that these results, if hypothetically transferred into ballot boxes (don’t get ideas now), would produce a comfortable majority government for Mark Carney.
