Léger: Liberal Vote Holds, Carney Approval Slides

Liberal support remains steady in latest Léger survey, but government approval has fallen sharply since August.

The latest monthly federal poll from Léger was released on Wednesday, and while the data show the Liberals maintaining their lead over the Conservatives, government approval has dropped significantly since late summer.

From coast to coast, Léger puts the Liberals at 44% among decided voters—matching the party’s score in the April general election. While that’s a three-point decline since Léger’s previous survey in September, it’s also a return to more plausible territory, especially considering the regional breakdowns.

I had written last month that Léger’s September poll showed unusually strong Liberal numbers in the Prairies and Alberta. This latest update brings those figures back down to earth.
