Polling Stalemate in Ontario: Ford's PCs Keep Lead Amid Turmoil
Despite piling controversy and sore losses, Doug Ford’s PCs still easily outpace their rivals. Is there even a chance for change on the horizon?
As Ontario entered the second year of Doug Ford’s second mandate as Premier, some alarm bells started ringing for the government: The PC lost an ally in the Mayor’s office at Toronto City Hall, the Liberals scored a long-held seat off them in a by-election, and the on-going Greenbelt influence scandal claimed its first victim, with more pot-stirring expected on the horizon.
This is all before one gets to the continued poor marks Ford himself receives in most approval polling in the past year.
And yet the latest Abacus poll done for the Toronto Star shows that almost nothing has changed — despite respondents being overwhelmingly critical of the government over the controversy.
