On Monday night, the Liberals and NDP headed into two byelections with hopes of holding onto their respective seats.

With the NDP on defense in the Manitoba riding of Elmwood—Transcona, and the Liberals fighting to prove they can hold onto the once-safe Montreal seat of LaSalle—Emard—Verdun, only one party achieved their goal by night’s end.
