Driven by Conservatives, Plurality of Canadians Say Abolish the Carbon Tax
Unsurprisingly, the numbers show a stark partisan divide on the issue.
The debate around the government’s carbon pricing plan, more commonly called the carbon tax, has been heating up lately. With the Conservatives on the offence in the House of Commons — including a failed a non-confidence vote after their anti-carbon tax motion was shot down — CPC leader Pierre Poilievre has pushed to make carbon pricing top of mind regarding Canadians’ economic anxiety.
The Angus Reid Institute and Leger both released polling on the topic, suggesting that Canadians aren’t happy with the incoming carbon tax hike that’s planned for April 1, 2024.
