Canadians Oppose Military Role in Middle East Conflict
New Ipsos polling shows most Canadians favour humanitarian aid and diplomacy, while concern grows over gas prices and the economy.
As the United States and Israel wage war against Iran in the Middle East, Canadians appear uneasy about the conflict—and highly reluctant to see their country become involved. New polling from Ipsos offers a snapshot of how Canadians view the war, its potential consequences, and Canada’s role.
Economic concerns top the list. A majority of Canadians (53%) say they are very concerned about the impact of the conflict on gas prices, which have risen in recent weeks. Nearly half also report being very concerned about broader effects on the Canadian economy (47%) and crude oil prices (42%).
