New federal polling from the Angus Reid Institute (ARI) suggests the Liberals are gaining support once again as the Canada-U.S. trade war returns to the forefront of national politics.
The latest ARI poll puts Liberal support at 46%, up six points from its previous poll in July, while Conservative support has dropped four points to 32%. That matches the CPC’s lowest showing with Angus Reid since February 2026 — which itself had been the party’s lowest mark in an ARI poll since January 2022, when Erin O’Toole was still Conservative leader.
Meanwhile, the New Democrats remain stable at 12% nationally. The movement for the Bloc Québécois is more dramatic: BQ support fell six points to 21% in Quebec, or 5% nationally. Looking through Angus Reid’s previous polling, 21% appears to be the Bloc’s lowest level of support with the pollster since at least the October 2019 general election.
It is a dramatic reversal for the Conservatives from the 2025 election, when they captured 41% of the national vote. The party now finds itself in the low 30s in polling averages, a level reflected almost exactly in this latest Angus Reid poll.
And the national numbers are not the only cause for concern. Poilievre’s personal favourability has fallen to 32%, its lowest level measured by Angus Reid since he became Conservative leader.
By comparison, 61% of Canadians approve of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s performance — a jump of ten points since ARI’s previous poll.
