With Mark Carney now having spent close to a year in office, new polling is beginning to take stock of how Canadians view their Prime Minister.

A recent survey from Abacus Data examined how familiar Canadians are with several prominent political figures, including Donald Trump, Justin Trudeau, Mark Carney, Pierre Poilievre, Doug Ford, and Avi Lewis.

Trump, Trudeau, and Carney register broadly similar levels of recognition: between 68% and 72% of Canadians say they know these figures either very well or somewhat well, with Carney at the lower end of that range. Notably, Carney and Poilievre are tied when it comes to the share of Canadians who say they know them very well, at 27% each. Overall, however, Carney is slightly more widely recognized than his Conservative rival.
