Abacus Data: Canadians Give Carney a Passing Grade on Trump
Fresh polling finds plurality approval for the Prime Minister’s handling of Canada–U.S. relations — but stark partisan divides remain.
New polling from Abacus Data offers a snapshot of how Canadians view Prime Minister Mark Carney’s handling of his relationship with Donald Trump, as Ottawa navigates the turbulent waters of Canada–U.S. trade relations.
According to the survey, 42% of Canadians say Carney is doing a good job managing his relationship with Trump. Another 24% rate his performance as OK, while 30% believe he is doing a poor job.
The most critical views come from Alberta, where 38% say Carney is doing a poor job, compared with 35% who say he is doing a good job.
As expected, views are sharply divided along partisan lines.
