338 Sunday Update: T'was Ten Days Before Christmas
After Toronto and Montreal, will the Liberals complete a trifecta of by-election defeats in the Lower Mainland?
T'was ten days before Christmas, but, before the break,
One last by-election loomed,
Defending Cloverdale—Langley City would be no piece of cake,
Especially after Toronto and Montreal, where Liberals met their doom.
With a bully President south of the border,
Whose main trick was threats of tariffs and provocation,
Many Liberals believed “Surely, our polls will get better!”
Yet, every passing week, numbers showed Tory domination.
With the winter solstice fast approaching,
And Finance scrambling with its Fall Economic Statement,
Those who had wished for reduced deficits and spending,
Were gearing up for disappointment.
The Liberals had been through hard times before,
The latest surveys showed they had hit their floor,
Still, many observers who like to mock,
Opined they would soon be overtaken by the Bloc.
Let’s review the latest numbers, then get to this week’s 338Canada federal update.
