338 Sunday Update: Liberals and NDP Strike Deal as CPC Lead Grows
Looks like this Parliament will go the distance...
It appears as though speculation whether Canada could hold a federal election in 2024 just evaporated into thin air this week, as the Liberals and New Democrats struck a deal on Pharmacare.
From the CBC’s Aaron Wherry: “In an interview with CBC's Rosemary Barton Live airing Sunday, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said weeks of talks between the two sides have produced draft legislation that will set out the framework for a national pharmacare program and, in the short term, new coverage for contraception and diabetes treatment.”
The next general election is scheduled on October 20, 2025. Barring unforeseen events, we now expect this parliament to go the distance.
