Happy Sunday morning, dear 338Canada readers,

Tonight, the sun will set on August and tomorrow it’ll rise into September, the unofficial start of fall. By far the best season of the year in Canada (and I will not take questions at this time).

For North American sports fans, the NHL and NFL are about to kick off (the NBA soon after), while the MLB playoffs (Go Jays!) loom just around the corner.

And, at last, politics returns to its usual daily twists and turns, with more regular polling to help us track the shifting moods of voters.

So, farewell August. I’m done with you.

But first, let’s recap the past week.
