Now that the dust is settling on this strange and unique federal campaign, I just wanted to take a moment to say a humble word of thanks to 338Canada readers and subscribers. To all of you: thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you for reading, sharing, subscribing, commenting—and yes, even criticizing. Over the past six weeks (or really, since January), I spent countless hours adjusting projections, poring over regional crosstabs, updating the model to account for the many blind spots we face at the federal level, and writing detailed breakdowns—often late into the night, and more than a few times far too early in the morning. The response from readers has been overwhelming, and I’m deeply grateful for your support.
This campaign, of course, had its fair share of twists and turns (and apparent attacks from hackers…). But throughout it all, your support reminded me why I kept going: To try to make sense of the numbers (and there were tons of them), and to paint as accurate a picture as possible with the limited data available.
The federal campaign may be over, but 338Canada isn’t going anywhere. Between the looming leadership races and much drama occurring at many provincial legislature—not to mention our still-fragile minority Parliament in Ottawa—there will be no shortage of polls to deconstruct and storylines to explore in the months ahead. So stay tuned.
But for today, in place of the usual 338 Sunday Update, I just wanted to say thank you for riding along. Un gros merci à tous et à toutes.
