338 British Columbia Update: B.C. NDP Lead Narrows, Again
What was once a comfortable lead for the incumbent NDP has evaporated, as Conservatives keep rising in the polls.
A new B.C. poll from Research Co. (RCo) released earlier this week showed the NDP in a statistical tie with the Conservatives, 41% to 38%.
Compared to RCo’s previous survey back in June, the Conservatives jumped five points (from 33% to 38%), while the NDP remained stable (40% to 41%).
As for the Greens (10%) and BC United (9%), they are battling for a distant third place. You can read RCo’s full July report here.
This is the closest B.C. poll between the NDP and Conservatives from an online polling firm to date, so it will be interesting to see if other major online polls (from Léger, Abacus Data, the Angus Reid Institute, and others) go from here.
Polling firms using IVR (automated calls), such as Mainstreet Research and Pallas Data, have had the NDP and Conservatives in a statistical tie for months. (See complete list of B.C. polls here.)
